02. Night & Astrophotography
Stars. Time-Blending. Long exposure night craft.
We meet directly on location in Zug (Zugerberg) or Schwyz right around sunset. We do not focus on the sunset itself; instead, we use the lingering twilight to capture the perfect, clean foreground for later time-blending with the night sky.
In summer, we chase the Milky Way core. In winter, when the core is hidden, we focus on mesmerizing Star Trails and dynamic light-painting using drones and specialized lighting. This is a purely educational, 7-hour field session (until approx. 1-2 AM).

A camera with manual mode, a fast wide-angle lens (f/2.8 or wider), a sturdy tripod, and an intervalometer. Winter requires extra batteries and shoe spikes for slippery descents.
I offer alternative dates or focus on landscape techniques by moonlight. Cloud cover can actually create beautiful soft-light conditions for long-exposure photography. The workshop is fully reschedulable if completely overcast.
Easy to moderate. In Schwyz, parking is 5 minutes from the spot. In Zug, we take the funicular up, but we must walk down in the dark (about 1 hour downhill). Winter snow makes the terrain moderate, making spikes essential.
You travel independently to the meeting point. For Schwyz, participants often organize a carpool (you can indicate your carpool preference in the booking form).
No! I teach from the basics: ISO, shutter speed, aperture principles, and manual focus techniques in pitch black. Beginners are highly welcome.
Not recommended. Manual mode control is essential. Phone cameras struggle with high-ISO and long exposures. You must use a manual DSLR or mirrorless camera.
